The Myth of Christianity

"In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world" – John 16:33

A myth of Christianity is that in being saved, we are delivered from all adversity. Not true. It actually means being delivered in adversity. "He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. No evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling . . ." (Psalm 91:1,10 )˜

If you are a child of God, you will encounter adversities, but Jesus says "but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world."

Adversity in a Christian's life builds character. Without weakness there will be no strength. But once you face adversity, you will immediately get the strength. "To him who overcomes I will give to eat from the tree of life..." ( Revelation 2:7 ). God never gives us strength for tomorrow, or for the next hour, but for the moment.

You go nowhere by accident. Wherever you go, God is sending you, wherever you are, God has put you there; He has a purpose in your being there. Christ who dwells within you has something He wants to do through you wherever you are. Believe this and go in His grace and love and power.

  1. The other thing about adversity, its through our adversities that we rely on God for strength and then He is the one who receives all the Glory. This allows us to bear witness to others of our reliance on Christ. If not others would not see the need for Christ and would not come to know the Lord.
